Griffith Announces $1,296,061 HHS Head Start Grant to STEP, Inc.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $1,296,061 to STEP, Inc., based out of Rocky Mount, Virginia, to support the group’s Head Start programs. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“Solutions that Empower People, known as STEP, offers different programs and services to local communities in Franklin and Patrick Counties, including Head Start programs.
“This HHS grant for nearly $1.3 million helps STEP administer Head Start services to families and children in Franklin and Patrick Counties.”
BACKGROUND
STEP’s Head Start network consists of teaching and educational professionals, as well as health advocates and transportation specialists.
The awarding office of this grant is the HHS Office of the Administration for Children and Families.
STEP’s Head Start programs are supported by Franklin and Patrick County Public Schools, the Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia, and Piedmont Community Services.
