Griffith Announces $289,995 HHS Head Start Grant to Clinch Valley Community Action, Inc.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $289,995 to Clinch Valley Community Action, Inc., based out of North Tazewell, Virginia, to support the group’s Head Start programs. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

 

“Clinch Valley Community Action offers different programs and services to local communities in Southwest Virginia, including Head Start programs.

 

“This HHS grant for $289,995 helps Clinch Valley Community Action provide Head Start resources to families and children at numerous sites in Tazewell County.”

 

BACKGROUND

 

The Clinch Valley Community Action Head Start program began operating as a Head Start grantee in July 2013.

 

The awarding office of this grant is the HHS Office of the Administration for Children and Families.

 

Head Start centers in Tazewell County include the Richlands Center, the Cedar Bluff Center, the Tazewell Center, and the Camp Joy Center. An Early Head Start Center is also based in North Tazewell.
