Griffith Announces $280,000 Grant for SWVA Higher Ed Center

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center Foundation, based in Abingdon, Virginia, a $280,000 grant for student workforce development. The funding will support 25 students whose prospective careers contribute to economic development in Southwest Virginia. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center Foundation provides education and professional development training opportunities.
“This ARC grant for $280,000 helps the Foundation create greater opportunities for students who use their careers to develop and improve Appalachian communities.”
BACKGROUND
It is projected that one organization, 15 communities and 25 students will benefit from this proposed project.
The name of this project is the “Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center Foundation Organizational Capacity Building” project.
