Griffith Announces $484,863 DOT Grant to Develop Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded the Virginia Tech Montgomery Regional Airport Authority, based in Blacksburg, Virginia, a $484,863 grant. The funding supports the construction of three new 3,600 square foot hangars at the Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

 

“Federal dollars continue to support the construction of new storage space for airports in Virginia’s Ninth District.

 

“This DOT grant for more than $484,000 helps the Virginia Tech Montgomery Regional Airport Authority deliver improved storage space to the Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport.”

 

BACKGROUND

 

This grant money was made available through the FAA Fiscal Year 2026 Airport Infrastructure Grant program.

 

Those who serve the Virginia Tech Montgomery Regional Airport Authority include officials from Virginia Tech, Montgomery County, and the Towns of Blacksburg and Christiansburg.
