Griffith Announces $112,932 DOT Grant to Develop Tazewell County Airport

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded the Tazewell County Airport Authority, based in Richlands, Virginia, a $112,932 grant. The funding supports the construction of a new 6,800 square foot hangar at the Tazewell County Airport. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

 

“Federal dollars continue to support the construction of new storage space for airports in Virginia’s Ninth District.

 

“This DOT grant for more than $112,000 helps the Tazewell County Airport Authority deliver improved storage space to the Tazewell County Airport.”

 

BACKGROUND

 

This grant money was made available through the FAA Fiscal Year 2026 Airport Infrastructure Grant program.

 

In August 2025, Tazewell County Airport Authority received over $380,000 from the FAA for this project.
