Griffith, Virginia GOP Congressmen to Spanberger: Put the Interests of the Commonwealth First

Following Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger’s recent actions to rescind Virginia law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration services, Virginia’s Republican Congressmen are speaking out. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (VA-9) helped lead a letter with U.S. Representatives Rob Wittman (VA-1), Jen Kiggans (VA-2), John McGuire (VA-5) and Ben Cline (VA-6) expressing opposition to Executive Order Ten and Executive Directive One.

In their letter, the Republican lawmakers detail the threats posed by illegal immigration, highlight the importance of cooperation between state and federal law enforcement and commit to working with Governor Spanberger to strengthen Virginia’s security.

They write in part:

“For these reasons, we respectfully urge you to restore the cooperation between state and federal law enforcement that existed under Governor Youngkin’s Administration that successfully removed a large number of dangerous criminals from the streets of Virginia. We appreciate your consideration and stand ready to work with you on solutions to strengthen Virginia’s security and put the interests of the Commonwealth first.”
