Griffith Announces $709,867 HHS Grant to Virginia Tech

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Virginia Tech, based in Blacksburg, Virginia, a $709,867 grant. The funding supports research into metabolic disease. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes are two of the most prevalent types of metabolic diseases that impact millions of Americans.
“This HHS grant for more than $709,000 helps Virginia Tech study in greater detail metabolic diseases.”
The HHS office responsible for this grant is the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. As a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Congressman Griffith serves as the Chairman of the Health Subcommittee.
