Griffith Announces $368,800 HHS Grant to Virginia Tech

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, based in Blacksburg, Virginia, a $368,800 grant. The funding supports research into Cryptococcal Meningitis (CM). U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“Fungal infections that lead to CM primarily impact individuals with compromised immune systems.
“This HHS grant for more than $368,800 helps Virginia Tech conduct clinical research on a neurological disorder.”
The HHS office responsible for this grant is the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. As a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Congressman Griffith serves as the Chairman of the Health Subcommittee.
