Griffith Announces $392,200 DOT Grant to Develop Virginia Highlands Airport

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded the Virginia Highlands Airport Commission, based in Washington County, Virginia, a $392,200 grant. The funding supports the expansion of aircraft storage space at Virginia Highlands Airport. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

 

“Virginia Highlands Airport has had a comprehensive plan in place to improve aircraft storage capacity. This grant helps complete the final phase of that plan.

 

“This DOT grant for more than $392,000 helps the Virginia Highlands Airport Commission construct two new hangars at Virginia Highlands Airport.”

These grant funds were made available through the Fiscal Year 2026 Airport Infrastructure Grant Program.
