GATE CITY — A Gate City-based Army National Guard unit was recognized recently as being one of the top reserve units in Virginia for its performance during 2011.
The 1032nd Transportation Company, 1030th Transportation Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group was awarded the Eisenhower Trophy and Superior Unit Award by the Virginia Army National Guard.

OAKWOOD, Va. — Consol Energy, Inc. announced Tuesday it will be reducing production and idling a portion of a Buchanan County coal mine.
