SOLYNDRA BONUS CASE CONTINUED

Last Thursday, I sent a letter to President Obama, along with 53 of my colleagues, asking him to stand up for the American taxpayers and oppose bonuses for certain Solyndra employees. While the Obama Administration failed to file an objection to Solyndra’s request on behalf of the taxpayers, a group of former Solyndra employees did object to the $500,000 bonus plan.

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement regarding the continuance of the Solyndra bonus case in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware until February 22, 2012:

“Last Thursday, I sent a letter to President Obama, along with 53 of my colleagues, asking him to stand up for the American taxpayers and oppose bonuses for certain Solyndra employees. While the Obama Administration failed to file an objection to Solyndra’s request on behalf of the taxpayers, a group of former Solyndra employees did object to the $500,000 bonus plan.

“Because of some of the concerns raised by Solyndra’s former employees - similar to those raised by our letter - the parties involved will now have additional time to consider this matter.  I urge President Obama to use this time to file an objection on behalf of hardworking Americans. Despite the Obama Administration’s lack of action in this case thus far, I am hopeful that the parties can come to an agreement that does not dole out bonuses to the remaining Solyndra employees at the expense of the hardworking American taxpayers.”
