Congressman Morgan Griffith issued the following statement after learning the District Court for the District of Columbia issued its decision in the Spruce Mine case (Mingo Logan Coal v. EPA):

“I want to thank the court for reining in an out-of-control EPA.  It’s outrageous that the EPA attempted to revoke perfectly good coal mine water permits that had already been issued by the Army Corps of Engineers.  I hope this decision is the first of many that will begin to halt the EPA’s war on coal.

“I, along with many of my colleagues in Congress, have been fighting to rein in the EPA.  We welcome the courts to this fight.  This is a classic example of the balance of powers – two branches restraining an out-of-control third branch, President Obama’s EPA."
