Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today was presented by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and Eastman with the Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence. This award recognizes Members of Congress whose legislative records support policies that enable American manufacturers to compete in the global marketplace. Griffith accepted the award at Eastman’s Fieldale Operations.
"Given the rich history of manufacturing here in Southwest Virginia, it is truly an honor to accept the Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence,” Rep. Griffith said. “Many people throughout the Ninth District and in communities across the United States have well-paying manufacturing jobs to help support their loved ones. Our economic policies must support these manufacturing jobs and existing manufacturers, and must also encourage the development of new businesses, jobs, and goods right here in the United States. I will continue fighting in Washington for these sorts of policies.”
“I have great respect for Congressman Griffith’s commitment to manufacturing and creating jobs for the hard working people of Virginia,” stated Pat Caldarera, site manager at Eastman’s Fieldale Operations. “We are lucky to have him in our corner, advocating policies that will allow us to grow, create jobs, compete and stay ahead of our global competition.”
“Manufacturing in Virginia and across the country is making a comeback,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “Manufacturers are growing the economy and creating high-paying jobs in a sector that adds $1.32 to the economy for every $1 spent. Rep. Griffith understands that leaders in Washington must advance policies that will continue to fuel this economic growth and has consistently supported manufacturers through his votes in Congress.”
