Griffith Responds to Obama’s Final State of the Union

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s State of the Union address:

“Tonight, the President spoke about the economy as if it were strong, but the fact of the matter is he has crippled our region’s economy in more than one way with his policies.”

“Additionally, the President’s remarks on foreign policy were simply sad.  President Obama talked about how powerful America is – and it is powerful – but I and many Americans believe that other nations don’t respect us as a result of his leadership.  That is why Russian troops are in Ukraine, and why the Chinese are thumbing their noses at us by building islands in waters we believe are either international or Japanese.”

“And most unbelievably, President Obama claimed that other nations wouldn’t dare to attack us or our allies mere hours after Iran seized 10 American sailors and two U.S. naval boats.”

“In short, the President’s remarks this evening were disconnected from reality, and served to underline his failing foreign policy.”
