President Trump announced he will formally renegotiate NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement). Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) said: “I have no problem trading with our friends to the North and South, however there needs to be a more balanced and fairer trade deal between our respective countries. Southside Virginia’s economy was devastated from the effects of NAFTA and other initiatives. I look forward to reviewing potential updates or modifications to NAFTA, particularly those that will benefit workers in Virginia. I am encouraged by the President’s tough stance on protecting and creating jobs here in the U.S. I welcome input from Ninth District residents on how we can, working with the President, increase jobs in our region.” |
