Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today issued the following statement after voting for the fiscal year 2018 budget resolution as amended by the Senate: “This budget resolution is a vehicle for tax reform. We need the reconciliation procedures provided by the budget resolution so a tax bill will not need a Senate supermajority for passage. I voted for the resolution today as a step toward making our tax system fairer and simpler for American families. “There are many parts of this budget, which acts as a vehicle for the appropriations we passed on September 14, that I don’t care for. But as the only viable vehicle for tax reform, I felt compelled to vote yes.” The House of Representatives passed the budget resolution by a vote of 216 to 212. ### |
