Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement after H.R. 299, the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act, passed the House of Representatives: “We owe our liberties to brave men and women who risk their lives to fight for us. These heroes deserve our support, especially when their health and well-being has suffered in the line of duty. This bill offers support to some who had been previously overlooked. There are sailors and airmen who served in the Armed Forces during the Vietnam era who were exposed to the dangerous herbicide Agent Orange, yet they are not eligible for the same health benefits related to Agent Orange available to those who served on land. The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act would correct this injustice and also cover the foreign-born children of Americans who were born with spina bifida as a likely result of Agent Orange. It is time we take care of these heroes and affected children.” Congressman Griffith cosponsored the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act. ### |
