The House of Representatives today adopted an amendment to prohibit funding to enforce an Obama-era Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation that defines truck trailers as motor vehicles. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) joined Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) in offering the amendment. He issued the following statement: “The Obama Administration’s EPA defied logic in declaring that truck trailers are self-propelled vehicles, and in doing so, gave itself the power to regulate them. This move was, in my opinion, clearly illegal, and by driving up the cost of trailers it threatens jobs. For example, Utility Trailer, a trailer manufacturer which employs nearly 2,000 in the Ninth District, would be directly impacted by the rule. “The amendment we offered would prohibit funds for the EPA to enforce its illegal and costly rule. I was happy to work with Congressman Loudermilk to instill a bit of common sense into regulation.” ### |
