Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement after the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), with support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), awarded a $34,172 Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration Program grant to the Canaan Valley Institute in Abingdon, VA for restoration along Wolf Creek and Town Creek: “I am pleased that the Canaan Valley Institute will use this funding to rehabilitate 3.6 acres of streambank along Wolf Creek and Town Creek by improving wildlife habitats. The restored habitats will positively impact birds, pollinators, fish, mussels, and hellbenders.” Background The grant is awarded through the NFWF’s Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration Program, which support projects that develop community stewardship of natural resources and address water quality issues in priority watersheds across the country.
