Griffith Announces $4,682,000 in Federal Support for Scott County Water and Wastewater Infrastructure

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement after U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development awarded a $1,497,000 loan and $3,185,000 grant to Scott County Public Service Authority for sanitary sewer to residents in the Hiltons and Yuma communities:

“Modern wastewater infrastructure is a necessity for public health and a high quality of life. Support from USDA Rural Development totaling $4,682,000 will go to sanitary sewer in the Hiltons and Yuma areas. These funds are a direct contribution to the betterment of Scott County and will provide clear benefits to its citizens.”

Background

According to Rural Development, the project will lead to construction of a gravity sewer line, force main, manholes, residential grinder pumps, a sewer grinder pump station with generator, one pump station, and related appurtenances.
