Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement after the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded $500,000 to Wise County for a new sewer system to serve the Banner community outside of Coeburn:

“Upgrading public water treatment systems will better serve residents and support development. Today’s award by the Appalachian Regional Commission of $500,000 for a new sewer system in the Banner area will improve sanitation and protect water quality. This is a valuable contribution to infrastructure in our communities.”

Background

The initial phase of the sewer system will install 16,800 linear feet of sewer line, one pump station, and 53 new service connections.
