Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement on the debt limit:

“Raising the debt limit, and the skyrocketing national debt that requires this step, should be a great concern of every American. The way House Democrats handled this issue shows they are not serious about it.

“After the Senate passed a short-term increase in the debt limit, I was wrestling with the issue. Nancy Pelosi, however, opted instead for legislative chicanery. By burying the increase in a rule which will then allow House Democrats to deem it passed, they evaded the tough questions that come with debt limit increases and tried to avoid accountability. I voted against this shameless legislative trick.”
