The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded a grant of $1,466,029 to Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (soon to be Mountain Gateway Community College) for the Appalachian Hardwood Training Initiative, a program to improve skills to increase employability in the region’s sawmill and wood manufacturing industries. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “Job training can improve a person’s prospects for employment and higher wages. ARC’s award of $1,466,029 to Dabney S. Lancaster Community College for the Appalachian Hardwood Training Initiative will provide that training for individuals, giving them the skills for use in the region’s wood industry.” ### |
