SOLYNDRA BONUS CASE CONTINUED

Last Thursday, I sent a letter to President Obama, along with 53 of my colleagues, asking him to stand up for the American taxpayers and oppose bonuses for certain Solyndra employees. While the Obama Administration failed to file an objection to Solyndra’s request on behalf of the taxpayers, a group of former Solyndra employees did object to the $500,000 bonus plan.

The Obama Administration approved a $535 million loan guarantee to the solar energy company Solyndra on September 4, 2009. Last February, the Department of Energy made the decision to subordinate $75 million of the Solyndra loan – putting taxpayers in second place to other creditors. In September 2011, Solyndra filed for bankruptcy.
