Griffith Announces U.S. Service Academy Nominations

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement announcing the names of those receiving congressional nominations from his office to the United States Service Academies:

“Serving our country is a high calling, and it is an honor for me as a Congressman to nominate a number of young men and women who want to make that commitment to the United States Service Academies. They have each displayed the talent, patriotism, and selflessness that such a nomination requires. I wish them the best as they pursue appointment to the Service Academies and in all their future endeavors.”

Nominees from Virginia’s Ninth District to the following Service Academies are:

United States Military Academy
Claire Melton – John S. Battle High School
Kirk Nairn – Abingdon High School
Lane Zuchowski – Christiansburg High School

United States Naval Academy
Connor Giza – Union High School
Joe Kennedy – Radford High School
Claire Melton – John S. Battle High School
Phoebe Stevens – Salem High School
Charles Wallace – Salem High School
Lane Zuchowski – Christiansburg High School

United States Air Force Academy
Connor Giza – Union High School
Grace Hess – Abingdon High School
Eddie Meadows – Alleghany High School
Claire Melton – John S. Battle High School
Phoebe Stevens – Salem High School
Matthew Theut – Carroll County High School

* In order to receive an appointment for admission, nominees must also meet all entrance requirements of the specific Academy. Nominees selected for admission will be notified by the individual Academies upon appointment.
